Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Academy Instructor Intern to support our training team. This internship provides hands-on exposure to HVAC fundamentals, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics in a classroom and lab environment. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, the intern will assist with preparing training materials, supporting hands-on demonstrations, and helping track student progress while developing their own technical and instructional skills.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists instructors with developing and organizing curriculum materials and lesson plans related to HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics. Supports hands-on training sessions and practical demonstrations by setting up equipment and preparing tools and supplies. Prepares inventories, and helps maintain training materials, lab equipment, and tools; reports issues to the instructor/team lead. Assists with grading support activities (as directed), organizing assignments, and documenting practical task completion. Learns and applies current industry trends, technologies, and safety practices; escalates questions or concerns to the instructor. Collaborates with internal subject matter experts to confirm training content and lab activities align with current standards. Provides basic support to students during labs (e.g., answering procedural questions and directing students to the instructor for technical sign-off). Maintains accurate records of class materials, attendance support logs, and other training documentation as assigned. Participates in continuous improvement efforts by sharing observations and helping update materials based on instructor feedback. Follows all safety regulations and standards during training activities and supports instructors with maintaining a safe learning environment.Education and Experience Requirements:
Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a technical program in HVAC, Mechanical/Electrical Technology, or a related field. Coursework or hands-on exposure to HVAC fundamentals, electrical controls, and basic thermodynamics is preferred. EPA 608 certification is a plus but not required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Interest in technical training, teaching, or workforce development; prior tutoring, lab assistant, or training support experience is a plus. Foundational knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical concepts, and basic electrical controls (through coursework, projects, or internships). Strong communication skills and willingness to speak in front of small groups with coaching. Ability to learn quickly, follow procedures, and help explain basic concepts in a clear, student-friendly way. Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to learning, safety, and continuous improvement. Excellent people skills. Excellent communication skills and comfortable speaking to large groups of people. Interest in teaching and learning; open to feedback and coaching.Work Environment:
Must be able to support materials in a classroom or lab setting while adhering to classroom etiquette and all company policies. Standing for long periods of time. Travel to other facilities and off-site locations as needed.Disclaimer:
