Job Description

Columbia Helicopters, Inc. Maintenance Technical Instructor Maintenance Technical Instructor For over 65 years, Columbia Helicopters have been a trusted provider of heavy-lift helicopter services. We create new aircraft, fly heavy-lift helicopters around the world, and provide maintenance support to ensure you are mission-ready for critical operations. The Maintenance Technical Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering aircraft maintenance and systems training to both Columbia Helicopters (CHI) maintenance personnel and external customers. This role combines classroom instruction, hands-on training, and remote learning to support technician development across CHI platforms. The instructor will also lead training programs, support curriculum development, and assess trainee progress. Training may be conducted onsite, at customer locations (domestically and internationally), and virtually.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Design and develop training content in various formats, including presentations, videos, and hands-on demonstrations, based on customer or internal requirements Deliver technical training to CHI maintenance staff and external customers in classroom, hangar, and operational aircraft environments Serve as Lead Instructor for CHI aircraft platform courses (e.g., Maintenance, Familiarization) Facilitate new hire training for field and shop maintenance technicians Plan, organize, and execute training programs in accordance with CHI standards and regulatory requirements Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for aircraft systems and maintenance practices Conduct practical exercises and evaluate mechanic proficiency and progress Assist in developing training materials and contribute to the continuous improvement of training content Represent Columbia Helicopters during regulatory or customer audits related to training programs
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant certification preferred Previous vocational, military, or formal teaching experience desired Strong knowledge of aircraft systems; rotorcraft experience highly preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to instruct and mentor technicians Understanding of domestic and international aviation regulatory requirements Ability to interpret technical data from manuals, regulations, and digital sources Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously Experience with basic video production tools (camera, lighting, etc.) preferred Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including to remote or austere locations
