Acadamy Instructor - Installation Training

Job Description

ALL POINTS INSTALLATIONS A
company in the All Points Media family
Job Summary:
Academy Instructor — Installation Training Employment Type
  • Part-time, with potential to grow into an expanded or full-time role as the training program scales Work Arrangement
  • Hybrid — in-person hands-on instruction plus remote coursework facilitation and check-ins Location
  • Beaverton, Oregon (in-person component); remote-eligible for coursework and coaching sessions Reports To
  • Chief Executive Officer, All Points Media About the Role This one's a big deal.
We're launching a brand-new kind of training program — one that's never existed here before — and we're looking for the person to bring it to life. API Installations, a 3M Preferred Installer and part of the All Points Media family, has built a five-level Professional Training Academy that takes an installer from their very first day on the job all the way to Franchise Ready Installer status. It's technical training, it's a leadership pipeline, and it's a personal-development program, all rolled into one — genuinely unique in this industry, and you'd be the one standing in front of the room bringing it to life.
This is a hands-on role:
part shop instructor, part mentor, part hype-person. We need someone who can teach a trainee how to lay a flawless vehicle wrap in the morning and have that same trainee fired up about their career, their communication skills, and their future by the afternoon. If you love teaching, love people, and want to help build something from the ground up rather than step into something already finished, this is that job. This position is part-time to start, reporting directly to our CEO given how central this program is to where the company is headed — with real, genuine potential to grow into something much bigger as the Academy expands. What You'll Actually Do Deliver hands-on installation training across the Academy's five levels — surface prep, window and wall graphics, vehicle wraps and fleet graphics, and advanced architectural film work. Teach to current manufacturer standards (3M, Avery Dennison, ORAFOL) and guide trainees toward industry certifications (PDAA, UASG, and manufacturer-specific credentials). Bring real sales and persuasion skill into the classroom — teach trainees how to pitch, negotiate, and talk to a client with genuine confidence, not just a script. Guide trainees through the Academy's professional development side: business etiquette, communication, interpersonal skills, and the applied "Missions" built into each level. Support trainees through their assigned coursework and verify completion alongside the Office Manager. Evaluate trainees at each level's "Show It Day" — the hands-on milestone that determines whether a trainee is ready to advance. Mentor trainees one-on-one and in small groups, both on real jobsites and in a classroom or virtual setting. Help shape the curriculum itself as the program grows — you're not just teaching the Academy, you're helping build it. What We're Looking For Expert-level, or close to it, hands-on experience in vinyl graphics and/or vehicle wrap installation. Manufacturer certification (3M, Avery Dennison, ORAFOL) or PDAA credentials strongly preferred. Genuinely charismatic — someone who lights up a room, not just someone who knows the material. Trainees should leave a session more energized than when they walked in. Real skill or experience teaching sales, persuasion, or client communication — whether that's formal sales training experience or just being the person everyone in the shop already comes to for advice on handling a tough client. Some background in teaching, training, coaching, or curriculum development — a former lead installer who has trained others informally absolutely counts, this doesn't require a formal teaching credential. Comfortable teaching both in person (hands-on demonstration, jobsite coaching) and remotely (virtual check-ins, coursework support). Genuinely invested in developing people, not just completing a training checklist — this role is as much about building professionals as it is about building installers. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Background in sales or sales training. Experience in print, out-of-home (OOH), or media — billboards, signage, experiential marketing, or related fields. Relevant industry certifications (3M, Avery Dennison, ORAFOL, PDAA, or similar). A bachelor's degree. Hands-on technical installation skill is a real bonus here, but not a dealbreaker if everything else is a strong match — we can teach the technical side to the right person faster than we can teach charisma. Where This Could Go We're not hiring for a part-time gig that stays a part-time gig. As the Academy grows — more trainees, more locations, maybe even franchise training down the road — this role has real room to grow right alongside it. Come build this with us.
