Monday-Friday, Day Shift We are seeking a highly motivated Process Development Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Martin, SC. This position plays a key role in developing, transferring, troubleshooting, and optimizing chemical manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve product quality, plant efficiency, process reliability, and overall profitability. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven professional who enjoys laboratory experimentation, process improvement, and solving complex manufacturing challenges in a chemical plant environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and transfer new chemical manufacturing processes into the Martin production facility. Design and execute laboratory experiments to support process development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Investigate process issues using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques. Partner with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve product quality, yield, throughput, cycle times, and equipment performance. Maintain controlled process documentation, operating instructions, and technical reports in accordance with company document control requirements. Initiate and coordinate Management of Change (MOC) activities. Support investigations of production-related customer complaints and quality issues. Evaluate alternative raw material suppliers through laboratory testing and product qualification studies. Maintain manufacturing recipes, bills of materials, and process information within SAP. Monitor key plant performance indicators and recommend process improvements. Lead or support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, sustainability, productivity, and cost reduction. Communicate technical findings and project results to stakeholders within the organization. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related scientific discipline. Ph.D. preferred. Strong laboratory and chemical process knowledge. Experience designing and executing laboratory experiments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Ability to analyze data and prepare technical reports. Knowledge of process documentation and change management practices. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of laboratory or chemical manufacturing experience. Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment. Experience with SAP or other manufacturing ERP systems. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies. Experience conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions. Physical & Work Environment Primarily onsite position located at the Martin, SC manufacturing facility. Combination of laboratory, office, and production floor work. Ability to safely work in a chemical manufacturing environment and follow all safety procedures.
