EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with district administrative evaluation procedures and district goals. Position Overview The Director of Academic Support Services and Elementary Professional Development provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of MTSS, Gifted and Talented programming, and Multilingual programming, as well as professional learning and educator development within the district's elementary schools. The Director works collaboratively with district and school leaders, including the Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Instruction and the Director of Secondary Curriculum and Professional Learning, to ensure the implementation of high-quality instructional practices, curriculum alignment, and professional learning opportunities that support student achievement and educator effectiveness. The Director serves as the district leader for Early Childhood and Elementary programming, providing oversight and strategic direction for the Teacher Induction Academy and related support systems. This role oversees the development and implementation of support structures for MTSS, ML, and GT programming, and leads professional learning initiatives to strengthen instructional practices and support educator growth across these areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction Provides district-level leadership and oversight to implement and continuously improve the MTSS framework across schools. Supports schools in developing aligned systems, processes, and expectations to identify and respond to student needs. Provides guidance, resources, professional learning, and coaching to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, intervention practices, and progress monitoring. Supports school teams in using data to drive instructional decisions and develop targeted supports for students. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, and support staff to build capacity and ensure effective MTSS implementation. Monitors district-wide MTSS practices, identifies areas of need, and supports continuous improvement efforts. Ensures alignment of academic, behavioral, and student support systems to promote success for all learners. Collaborate with principals and instructional staff to ensure the effective implementation of high-quality instructional materials and evidence-based instructional practices in the area of GT, MTSS, and ML programming at all levels. Facilitate curriculum reviews and revisions to ensure alignment with state requirements and district priorities. Collaborate with district departments to ensure instructional coherence across all schools. Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and inclusive practices within all classroom settings. Professional Development Assist with the delivery, coordination, and evaluation of a comprehensive professional learning program for elementary educators and administrators. Assist in developing annual professional development plans aligned to district strategic priorities. Facilitate district-wide workshops, institutes, academies, and training opportunities. Coordinate professional learning opportunities with state agencies, educational organizations, and community partners. Support principals in developing school-based professional learning. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of professional development through participant feedback, implementation data, and student outcomes. Teacher Induction Academy Serve as the district coordinator for the Teacher Induction Academy at the early childhood and elementary level. Design and oversee all levels of induction support for beginning teachers, alternatively certified teachers, and educators new to the district. Coordinate orientation programs and activities for newly hired educators. Develop and facilitate induction curriculum focused on instructional practices, classroom management, district expectations, assessment practices, technology integration, and professional responsibilities. Recruit, train, and support mentor teachers assigned to induction participants. Monitor progress of induction participants and ensure compliance with state induction requirements. Collaborate with Human Resources and school administrators on retention efforts. Analyze induction program effectiveness and recommend improvements to support teacher success and retention. Coordinate ongoing networking and support opportunities for educators during their first three years of employment. Program Evaluation and Accountability Monitor implementation and effectiveness of instructional programs and initiatives. Use data to evaluate curriculum, professional development, and induction programs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding instructional programs. Prepare reports, documentation, and recommendations based on program outcomes and district needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Master's degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, or related field. Certification Valid South Carolina educator certificate. South Carolina administrative certification or eligibility preferred. Experience Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level. Demonstrated leadership experience as an instructional coach, curriculum specialist, assistant principal, principal, or district-level administrator. Experience designing and facilitating professional development. Experience supporting beginning teachers and mentoring programs preferred.
