PM Position Summary:
The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for providing a safe, positive, and engaging environment for youth at the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Country. YDPs serve as mentors and role models while planning and leading programs and activities that support academic success, healthy lifestyles, leadership development, and positive social-emotional growth. YDPs are responsible for supervising youth, maintaining structure and safety within the Club, and helping create an environment where all members feel supported, respected, and encouraged to succeed. Primary Functions Supervise and actively engage with youth during daily Club operations Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate programs and activities Build positive mentoring relationships with Club members Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment Support the mission and values of the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Country Work collaboratively with Unit Directors and fellow staff members Essential Duties and Responsibilities Youth Development & Mentorship Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth members at all times Build professional and supportive relationships with youth and families Encourage positive behavior, participation, teamwork, and respect Help create an environment that promotes emotional, social, and academic growth Provide homework help and academic support when needed Program Implementation Plan and facilitate engaging programs, activities, and games Lead activities in areas such as education, recreation, STEM, arts, leadership, sports, and wellness Ensure programs are age-appropriate, organized, and engaging Assist with special events, field trips, and Club-wide activities Safety & Supervision Monitor members at all times to ensure safety and accountability Maintain cleanliness and organization of program spaces Follow all Club safety policies and procedures Utilize appropriate behavior management and discipline techniques Immediately report accidents, incidents, safety concerns, or suspected abuse according to Club policy and mandated reporter requirements Teamwork & Professionalism Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries with youth and families Complete additional duties as assigned by the Unit Director Relationships Internal Maintains daily communication with Unit Directors and Club staff regarding programs, member behavior, safety concerns, schedules, and Club operations. External Maintains positive and professional interactions with youth members, parents/guardians, schools, and community partners when appropriate. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Experience working with youth preferred Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment Ability to serve as a positive mentor and role model Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required Requirements Must pass a criminal background check Must pass a drug screening Must comply with all Boys & Girls Club policies and procedures Must fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively participate in activities for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor activities
