Job Description

This project will alleviate poverty by strengthening organizational systems by creating sustainable infrastructure, volunteer management processes, partnership development tools, communication resources, and impact reporting processes that help the Community Healing and Mental Health Project (CHAMP) be more efficient and expanding their impact. The community capacity-building work will help CHAMP in serving communities in their effort to improve mental health outcomes, reduce behavior-related school suspensions and dropout rates, curb gun violence, and lower teen incarceration rates in communities. The lasting effects of this program will empower communities to overcome challenges by supporting individual healing and community resilience.

Member Duties :

The VISTA volunteer will develop volunteer and community ambassador systems to recruit and track volunteers, graduate interns, community ambassadors, and event participants.

These activities include:

researching and documenting current volunteer and community ambassador practices, needs, and gaps in collaboration with CHAMP staff; developing volunteer and community ambassador role descriptions, recruitment materials, onboarding resources, and training materials; and creating standardized volunteer engagement, tracking, recognition, and follow-up tools that CHAMP staff can maintain. The volunteer will develop community mental health education, communications, documentation, and impact-reporting infrastructure to organize information and communicate program impact. The volunteer will also organize information and create systems that support relationships with the community, school, healthcare, university, corporate, foundation, volunteer, and coalition partners.
