Then Boys & Girls Clubs may be a great fit for you! We are hiring staff for our afterschool program for elementary, middle, and high school aged kids. The title for this position is
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL.
This is a part-time job with about 20 to 25 hours of work per week. The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Friday. Starting pay is $14.50/hour and part-time staff receive 20 hours of paid time off after 90 days of employment.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT STAFF
Under the supervision of the Unit Director, Youth Development Professional have the responsibility of providing daily programs, services and activities for Boys & Girls Club members ages 5 - 18. These services and activities are consistent with the organization's youth development mission, and Youth Development Professionals are responsible for developing positive, productive relationships with Club members through guided activities and programs, academic support, and mentorship.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia Youth Development Professional Schedule:
Burlington Elementary School; Monday through Friday; 1:30PM-6:00PM (This location requires personal transportation) ; 20 hours per week. 9th Street Club in SE, Roanoke City; Monday through Friday; 2:00-7:00PM; 25 hours per week
Requirements:
A copy of your high school diploma or GED is required. Must be able to pass both state and federal background checks and be fingerprinted. This is a physical role with lots of moving around. Applicant must be able to plan lessons for their class daily. As a part-time staff member at Boys & Girls Club you can expect a regular and reliable schedule with direct oversight and interaction with young people in our community. The ideal candidate will be confident, self-sufficient, and prepared to set a good example for young people. Previous youth development experience is preferred but not required. Excellent candidates include those who are interested in or have had experience in childcare, day care, youth groups, babysitting, kid's programs, mentoring programs, or other child/kid and youth focused activities. Successful candidates must enjoy working with youth to help them achieve academic success, learn to be kind and helpful in the community, and promote a healthy lifestyle.
