Job Description

A long‑established USDA‑regulated food manufacturer is seeking an experienced HR & Safety Manager to support a high‑volume, 450+ employee production facility in Madelia, Minnesota . This is a critical leadership role responsible for strengthening a people‑first culture, elevating safety performance, and ensuring full compliance across a complex manufacturing environment. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to plant leadership, oversee HR and safety operations, and directly lead a small but impactful HR/Safety team. What You'll Do Human Resources Leadership Lead all HR operations for a 450+ employee USDA manufacturing plant Oversee employee relations, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution Direct onboarding and orientation, including leadership onboarding and cultural integration Partner with hiring managers on interviewing, selection, and workforce planning Deliver leadership training focused on communication, coaching, and soft‑skills development Maintain accurate
HRIS/ERP
records, personnel files, and compliance documentation Safety & Compliance Lead all plant safety programs and OSHA compliance initiatives Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments Manage workers' compensation claims, incident investigations, and return‑to‑work programs Reinforce a strong safety culture across all shifts Maintain required safety logs, reporting, and regulatory documentation Team Leadership Supervise and develop two direct reports (HR Coordinator & HR Clerk) Build capability through coaching, training, and performance management Serve as a visible, accessible resource to employees and leadership What You Bring High School Diploma (Bachelor's degree preferred) 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience (manufacturing or food processing preferred) Experience with OSHA‑related safety programs Supervisory experience required Union experience a plus Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and
