Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Kennel Technician to join our dedicated animal care team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of our furry residents by providing exceptional kennel maintenance, animal handling, and pet care services. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for pets in boarding, or veterinary treatment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with animals daily while supporting the overall mission of compassionate pet care. Duties Maintain clean and sanitary kennels, cages, and common areas to promote a healthy environment for animals. Handle dogs and other small animals with care, ensuring proper restraint and safety protocols are followed at all times. Assist with pet grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and basic hygiene to keep animals comfortable and presentable. Provide pet sitting services by feeding, exercising, and monitoring animals' behavior throughout their stay. Support veterinary staff with animal handling during examinations or treatments, including administering medications as directed. Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns promptly to veterinary or management staff. Lift heavy loads such as bags of pet food or large animals safely while adhering to proper lifting techniques. Maintain detailed records of animal care activities, including feeding schedules, medical treatments, and behavioral observations. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners and visitors about their pets' needs and status. Requirements Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, veterinary clinic, pet grooming facility, or similar environment is preferred, but not required. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely is required due to the physical nature of the job. Strong attention to detail in record-keeping and cleaning routines ensures a hygienic environment for all animals. Excellent communication skills to provide clear updates to pet owners and team members. A compassionate attitude combined with a proactive approach to animal welfare is vital for success in this role. Flexibility to work varied shifts including rotating weekends or holidays.
