Job Description

Canine Kennel Tech (Part-Time)
Reports To:
Canine Care Manager Schedule & Work Environment:
This part-time position follows a rotating schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Our facility operates year-round, so candidates must be comfortable working in all weather conditions. We're looking for someone reliable, hardworking, and genuinely passionate about caring for dogs.
Role Overview:
The Canine Kennel Tech supports the daily care and well-being of dogs by working closely with staff and volunteers. This role combines hands-on animal care with maintaining a clean, safe, and structured environment for all animals in the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Walk and exercise dogs daily to support their physical health Prepare and serve meals while tracking appetite and noting any changes Monitor dogs for signs of illness or behavioral changes and document observations Clean and sanitize kennels, crates, dishes, and common areas according to protocols Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility, including during walks and outdoor time Assist with bathing and basic grooming tasks Administer medications following provided instructions Support enrichment activities, training efforts, and behavior plans Ensure dogs have appropriate bedding, stimulation, and care Work with team members to promote each dog's overall wellness Provide guidance to volunteers to ensure safe and effective interactions with animals Communicate clearly with staff regarding animal care and facility needs Follow all safety, sanitation, and disease-control procedures Help maintain indoor and outdoor dog areas, including play yards Contribute to a positive experience for visitors, volunteers, and team members
Qualifications & Requirements:
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting Team-oriented with a positive and proactive mindset Comfortable handling dogs of various sizes, temperaments, and needs Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks such as standing, bending, and cleaning for extended periods Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions Dependable, responsible, and attentive to detail Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner
Additional Details:
Team members working 30+ hours per week may qualify for paid time off, including sick leave and vacation time. PTO begins accruing upon hire and becomes available after an initial waiting period.
