Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Zookeeper, where you will play a vital role in caring for and maintaining the health and well-being of a diverse array of animal species. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with animals, contribute to conservation efforts, and support educational programs. Your dedication will help ensure that our animals thrive in a safe, enriching environment while engaging visitors with inspiring wildlife experiences. Responsibilities Provide daily care and enrichment activities for animals, ensuring their physical and psychological well-being. Monitor animal health through regular observation, behavioral assessments, and recording vital signs. Assist with feeding routines, ensuring species-specific diets are accurately prepared and administered. Maintain clean and safe habitats by performing habitat cleaning, habitat enrichment, and enclosure inspections. Support veterinary procedures by restraining animals, preparing samples, and assisting with treatments under supervision. Collect data related to animal behavior, health indicators, and environmental conditions for ongoing research projects. Contribute to educational programs by engaging with visitors, providing information about species conservation, and promoting awareness. Skills Strong understanding of animal behavior, biology, and welfare standards. Experience with scientific research methods related to zoology or ecology. Proficiency in data collection, analysis skills, and laboratory techniques such as tissue culture or microscopy. Knowledge of bioinformatics tools like R, Python, MATLAB, or GIS for research purposes. Familiarity with clinical research practices including assays, molecular biology techniques (Western blot), and cell culture methods. Laboratory experience in microbiology, biochemistry, or mammalian cell culture is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage with the public.
