Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and a strong commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our furry guests. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our facility, ensuring that all animals receive the highest level of care and attention. An ideal candidate will work part time - 20-30 hours per week - and alternating weekend shifts as well as holidays as needed. We are looking for someone that can work alone with 10-20 dogs at a time, or with a team member. Training will be provided for those willing to work hard and learn. Duties Providing a safe environment while socializing and playing with dogs in playgroups Administering medication as needed Cleaning kennels Dishes, sanitizing Laundry Answering phones/emails Payment processing Loading medical records, pictures and notes to records Able to post on Facebook during shift - adding pictures and captions. Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising pets. Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management. Engage with pet owners, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills in animal care. Qualifications Previous experience in Kennel boarding/daycare settings, animal care, or kennels preferred but not required. Animal Handling skills and experience preferred but not required. Must be personable and compassionate with excellent communication skills Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment or solo while also being self-motivated. Must be physically capable of lifting animals and performing tasks that require standing for extended periods. Ability to learn and work with basic computer systems for appointment booking and record keeping. Willingness to learn and take direction. Ability to perform basic mathematic accurately with money. Must possess sound decision-making skills and multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment Candidates must have flexible availability. Schedule includes morning and evening shifts, weekend shifts and holidays. A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being is essential. Pay typically starts at $10/hour with the first raise to come within 3-6 months of good performance. There is room to grow within this company.

$10.00 - $11.00 per hour
