Job Description
Overview Mohican Kennels is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Groomer/Kennel Technician to join our animal care team. This role combines professional pet grooming with kennel management, ensuring that animals are well-cared for, comfortable, and groomed to meet their individual needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal handling and pet care, with a passion for enhancing the well-being and appearance of our furry clients. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fun and relaxed environment where animal welfare and customer satisfaction are top priorities. This is a full time position with an established customer base with grooming appointments consistantly booked 4 - 6 weeks or more ahead. Receive hourly pay plus commission. Responsibilities Provide professional grooming services including bathing, trimming, brushing, and styling for dogs and cats, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the process and handling all animals with care and compassion Assist with kennel duties such as feeding, cleaning, administering medications, and monitoring animal health status Support pet owners by offering advice on grooming routines, pet care, and behavior management Perform heavy lifting when necessary to move animals or equipment safely within the facility, requesting help when needed Requirements Prior experience in pet grooming or kennel operations is highly preferred Strong animal handling skills with an understanding of animal restraint Familiarity with pet grooming tools, techniques, and best practices Ability to perform physically demanding tasks involving heavy lifting and prolonged standing Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor Basic knowledge of animal care practices, including general pet health monitoring If you are passionate about animal welfare, detail-oriented in your work, and eager to contribute to a caring environment, we invite you to apply today.
