Job Description
General Summary of Job The Groomer's primary duties are to properly groom and finish pets by using humane practices and minimizing pet stress. Additionally, the groomer is responsible for supervising bather/brushers and the maintenance and cleaning of the groom shop. The Groomer reports to the General Manager. Sign on
Bonus:
$1000 broken out with $500 at 90 days and $500 after 180 days Primary Duties- Perform groom functions as requested by client and described on the groom card or instruction form. Provide an attractive pet style that meets client's expectations and is appropriate for the pet.
- Ensure bather/brushers are preparing pets for grooming in accordance to procedures.
- Observe pet's coat conditions and when necessary recommend shave downs versus dematting of pets.
- Ensure receptionists are advised of extra charges required for brush-out or dematting.
- Finish pets as described in procedures.
- Bathe pets/cats as needed.
- Manage groom shop work schedule to ensure departure times are met or client's notified in advance of unavoidable delays.
- Keep grooming stations stocked with supplies, tools cleaned and ready for use report low inventory to General Manager before supplies run out.
- Ensure bather/brushers keep groom shop clean. ○ During the workday keep the room safe by wiping up water spills and pet accidents as soon as possible. ○ At the end of each workday all hair should be swept/mopped from floor and cleaned from tubs/shower. ○ Holding cages should be ready for next day's arrivals.
- Update pet status on white board and point of sale system. Advise receptionist when pets that are to be "called when ready" are finished.
- Follow safety procedures for pets and crew at all times. Ask for assistance when a pet is stressed, very difficult to manage or showing any signs of injury.
- Advise the General Manager of any issues with bather/brusher job performance.
- Check on crated pets every 30 minutes. Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Professional grooming school graduate preferred or comparable grooming experience
- Good oral & written communication skills
- Proven humane pet handling skills
- Previous work experience demonstrating dependability
- Self-motivated, independent worker
- Proven leadership and training skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Good decision and problem solving skills
- Good organization and planning skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills
