This paid apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to develop essential skills in handling, bathing, and grooming a variety of animals, primarily dogs, while gaining valuable veterinary and animal handling experience. You will work closely with experienced groomers and veterinary professionals to learn best practices in pet care, animal restraint, and grooming techniques. This role is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to build a career in pet grooming. Duties Assist senior groomers with bathing, drying, brushing, and basic grooming of dogs and other small animals Support animal handling and restraint during grooming procedures to ensure safety for pets and staff Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of grooming stations, tools, and equipment in compliance with health standards Observe animals for signs of distress or health issues during grooming sessions and report findings promptly Help prepare animals for grooming by checking their coats, ears, teeth, and nails as directed by senior staff Support veterinary team members with pet care tasks such as feeding, walking, or administering basic treatments when needed Experience Prior experience with dog handling or pet grooming is preferred but not required; enthusiasm to learn is essential Familiarity with animal handling, restraint techniques, and pet care procedures is highly valued Experience working with animals such as dogs can be beneficial but is not mandatory Strong customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners and team members Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting when necessary for animal safety and equipment setup Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to animal care and grooming techniques Join us in creating a positive impact on pets' lives while developing your skills in a lively, supportive environment.
