Grooming Salon Manager Job Description Central Bark New Berlin is seeking an experienced Grooming Salon Manager to lead our fast-paced Doggy Daycare & Grooming Salon. This role is ideal for a skilled groomer who is ready to take the next step into leadership while remaining hands-on in the salon. We offer a fun, supportive environment in our spacious, climate-controlled grooming facility . The Grooming Salon Manager is responsible for overseeing daily grooming operations, maintaining high grooming and safety standards, supporting and mentoring groomers, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position is hands-on , with a mix of grooming, leadership, scheduling, and administrative responsibilities. A working interview, photo portfolio, background check, and reference check are required prior to a job offer. Full-Time benefits include 40 hours PTO after 1 year, 401(k), and health, dental, and vision insurance after 90 days. Compensation is commission-based with tips , with additional leadership compensation discussed based on experience. Position Overview Lead and support a team of groomers while maintaining your own grooming schedule Ensure consistent grooming quality, safety, and customer satisfaction Serve as the primary point of contact for grooming-related client concerns Partner with management to grow grooming services and revenue Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Leadership & Management Supervise, mentor, and support groomers of varying experience levels Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new grooming staff Maintain grooming standards, safety protocols, and salon cleanliness Address performance concerns and provide coaching and feedback Foster a positive, team-oriented salon culture Grooming & Operations Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, clipping, scissoring, nail trims, ear cleaning, and expressing anal glands Take in outside and in-house daycare grooming clients (quick baths, nail trims, full grooms) Assist with grooming schedules, appointment flow, and capacity planning Help answer grooming phone lines and emails Check dogs in and out and communicate grooming needs with owners Maintain grooming records and digital booking systems Promote grooming services and encourage client rebooking Customer Experience Consult with clients on grooming needs and expectations Resolve escalated customer concerns in a professional, solution-oriented manner Build long-term relationships with grooming clients Facility & Equipment Ensure equipment is properly maintained and supplies are stocked Cage dryers and some products provided; groomers are responsible for maintaining their own tools Time Allocation (Approximate) 60-70% grooming dogs 15-20% leadership, scheduling, staff support, and customer communication 10-15% cleaning, laundry, and grooming-related upkeep Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Minimum 3+ years professional grooming experience required Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience required Grooming experience may be from a formal grooming program or hands-on apprenticeship Strong dog handling and behavioral awareness required Willingness to attend training sessions, seminars, and industry events (some may occur outside normal working hours) Technical & Grooming Skills Advanced grooming techniques and strong scissoring skills Experience bathing, drying, and handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments Knowledge of breed-specific styles and creative grooming techniques Ability to maintain detailed grooming and client records Physical Requirements Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds Ability to stand for extended periods of time Repetitive hand motions including grasping, pinching, pulling, and scissoring Health Requirements All Grooming Salon Managers must be current on their Tetanus vaccination Communication & Administrative Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to professionally communicate dog-related concerns to staff and management Comfortable using digital booking platforms and Windows-based applications Ability to maintain clear, accurate grooming and scheduling records Reasoning & Customer Service Skills Ability to define problems, assess safety concerns, and respond calmly in emergencies Ability to handle difficult or upset customers with professionalism and empathy Schedule & Team Monday-Friday You will work alongside a team of 4 groomers while serving in a leadership role Application Process Please submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.
