Job Description

Dog Rescue Adoption Manager Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue is seeking an experienced Dog Rescue Adoption Manager to lead our foster-based rescue and adoption operations. This role is best suited for someone with hands-on experience in dog rescue, sheltering, and/or veterinary environments who is ready to take ownership of a high-volume, fast-paced program. You'll play a critical role in ensuring dogs move safely and efficiently from intake to placement. This is not an entry-level role. It's for someone who already understands the realities of rescue and non-profit work— the pace, the unpredictability, and the level of responsibility involved —and is ready to take a leadership role in a mission-driven organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of foster placement and adoption operations Coordinate and manage medical care , including urgent and after-hours situations Lead and support a network of fosters and volunteers Plan and execute adoption events Manage logistics including transport, scheduling, and placement coordination Act as a central point of contact for adoption and foster-related inquiries Requirements Direct professional experience in non-profit management, dog rescue, shelter operations, or veterinary settings (required) Proven management experience (required) Strong working knowledge of adoption workflows, foster coordination, and animal care protocols Ability to confidently handle dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to manage high call/message volume Comfortable making decisions in time-sensitive or emergency situations Proficient with Google Workspace and Excel Must have reliable vehicle, laptop, and phone Work Environment & Expectations On-site role in Laurel Canyon (not remote) 40-55 hours/week , including every weekend (2 weekdays off) On-call availability for emergencies (medical/foster-related) Physically active role; must be able to lift 35 lbs All dogs are foster-based (no central shelter facility) Compensation $65,000-$75,000 annually , based on experience
Pay:
