Job Description

Overview Join our team as a Dog Training Assistant and help us turn our clients' dogs into the angels they were meant to be! This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work with dogs and learn about dog training and behavior. You'll gain hands-on experience in dog handling, training methods, and animal welfare while supporting our mission to improve the lives of dogs and their owners in Marin County, CA. This position has the potential to increase to full time employment and for promotion to full dog trainer. This position is a great start and foot-in-the-door opportunity to the dog training world. Set Hours This position is for the following dates and times, which are non-negotiable. Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays from 1:00 to 6:30 PM Responsibilities Assist professional dog trainers in setting up for group classes Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment for animals and staff Assist clients with signing up for classes and purchasing class materials Act as distraction and "friendly stranger" for dogs in class in order to help clients teach their dogs focus and polite greeting behaviors Move heavy equipment Take pictures and videos of classes for social media Maintain inventory and supply of classroom materials Receptionist-like duties Observe dogs' behavior closely to identify signs of stress or discomfort and report findings promptly Job Requirements Basic computer skills Basic smartphone and camera operation skills Must be able to sit and kneel on the floor and get up unassisted Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds
Pay:
$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
