!!! Happy Hound Daycare is excited to announce an opening for a Dog Handler/Trainer to join our dedicated team!
Location:
379 Goshen Road, Torrington, CT 06790
Shift Details:
This is a part-time position with no weekend or holiday shifts required.
Compensation:
$17 per hour
Job Summary:
The Dog Handler position encompasses 10 to 15 hours per week, with responsibilities including afternoon and occasional early morning shifts. The primary role of the Dog Handler is to provide exceptional care to dogs enrolled in our daycare programs, striking a balance between daily physical exercise and mental stimulation. We are looking for an individual who is engaging, composed, reliable, and a collaborative team player. Our dog handlers prioritize the program's overarching objectives while also attending to the individual needs of each dog. While we prefer candidates with prior experience, we are willing to train the right individual for a long-term position within our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise up to 30 dogs of varying breeds and sizes. Maintain cleanliness throughout the daycare at all times. Document essential information accurately. Reinforce training commands and promote calm behavior among dogs. Remain active for extended periods. Lift weight up to 50 pounds as required. Interact with customers both in person and via phone. Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, regardless of weather conditions. Make swift decisions and resolve issues independently. This part-time position offers opportunities for additional hours when other staff members are unavailable. We take our responsibilities seriously while fostering a positive atmosphere to ensure that the dogs have an enjoyable experience.
