Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Playgroup Assistants play a vital role in helping our dogs get exercise, enrichment, and socialization. Volunteers in this position will work directly with our Behavior Managers and Kennel Staff to facilitate dog playgroups. Duties include setting up play yards, assisting with bringing dogs in and out, observing interactions, refreshing water, sanitizing toys and equipment, and following staff directions to ensure safety at all times. Volunteers will also learn to evaluate behavior inside and outside of the kennel, as well as how dogs respond to one another. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and complete required training in dog body language and dog walking before joining playgroups. No prior experience is required, but experience with dogs is preferred. Playgroup Assistants should be comfortable reading canine body language, handling dogs safely, and have the mobility to move confidently in an active outdoor setting.
