Apple Creek Canine Resort - Marion, IA Love dogs? Love being active? Want a workplace with high standards and great humans? You might belong here. Let's be honest — this job isn't all puppy kisses (though there are plenty). It's fast-paced, physical, and responsibility-heavy. But it's also meaningful, fun, and the gateway to a long-term career working with dogs. Still intrigued? Keep reading. Who We Are Apple Creek Canine Resort is a luxury dog resort built on integrity, accountability, and genuine care — for both dogs and people. Our team shows up engaged, focused, and committed to doing things the right way.
We value:
  • Integrity & honesty
  • Reliability & accountability
  • Respect for teammates, clients, and dogs
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to learn If these matter to you, you'll fit right in.
About the Pack Member Role (Currently Hiring!) Right now, we are actively looking to fill roles in our Canine Concierge, Playtime, and Pawffice departments! However, all team members are hired as Pack Members first. The Pack Member position is a short-term, paid training and skills-confirmation role designed to ensure safe canine handling, strong fundamentals, and alignment with Apple Creek standards. Once your handling skills and readiness are confirmed, you will move into your long-term specialized role. Advancement is based on demonstrated skills, reliability, and readiness — not tenure alone. • Stay actively engaged with dogs — from throwing balls to comforting seniors to managing playful puppy groups.
  • Learn dog body language, communication, and behavior (hands-on + online training provided).
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility.
  • Assist with feeding, potty breaks, enrichment, and comfort during storms.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service while handling dogs.
  • Share daily updates with pet parents.
  • Support operations across play yards, lodging, and guest areas. Physical & Work Environment This is an active role — good shoes and a great attitude help a lot.
  • Standing and walking most of the shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and handling strong dogs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Indoor and outdoor work in all Iowa weather (shade and misting systems provided).
  • Exposure to pet dander, noise, and cleaning products.
  • Weekends and occasional holidays required (we care for dogs 365 days a year). What We're Looking For
  • 16+ years old.
  • Reliable attendance and transportation (yes — even in winter).
  • Coachable, observant, and eager to learn.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Genuine love for dogs.
  • Ability to learn new computer systems. Previous dog or pet industry experience is preferred but not required. Industry experience may qualify for a higher starting rate. Schedule
