Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Dog Trainer - Assistant and play a vital role in shaping well-behaved, happy, and confident pets! In this energetic position, you will support professional dog trainers in delivering positive reinforcement-based training programs, assist with animal handling, and contribute to creating a safe and engaging environment for pets and their owners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in animal behavior, training techniques, and client communication while making a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families. Duties Assist lead trainers in implementing obedience training and behavioral modification programs using positive reinforcement strategies Handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments with care, ensuring safety through proper animal restraint techniques Support pet care routines such as grooming, feeding, and kennel management to maintain a clean and healthy environment Help conduct pet handling sessions that promote good behavior and confidence through classroom-based positive reinforcement methods Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding training progress, behavioral concerns, and at-home reinforcement strategies Support the setup and cleanup of training areas, including organizing training tools and supplies Assist with pet sitting duties or transporting animals as needed for training or appointments Requirements Previous veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable Experience working with animals such as dogs, horses, or other pets, including handling and care responsibilities Knowledge of animal behavior principles, pet behavioral modification techniques, and positive reinforcement training methods Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for animal handling or equipment setup Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with clients Familiarity with kennel operations, pet grooming, pet sitting, and general animal care practices Willingness to learn new training techniques and stay updated on best practices in pet behavior support This role is perfect for passionate individuals eager to develop their skills in animal handling, training, and client interaction within a supportive team environment.
