Full-time Job description: We are a small Boston based dog training company looking to hire a dog trainer who can also do pack hikes, training walks, and boarding early 2026. Check out our website for more info about our offerings and training methods
  • www.communitycaninetraining.com This is a full time position. Ideally Mon-Fri but can be flexible. Must have at least one day off a week. Our team are employees with commission payment, typically between $1,000
  • $2,000 a week before tax for full time employees.
It is flexible depending on how full you want your schedule to be and what services you are offering. Feel free to request the breakdown of our commissions if you want more info on our payment structure.
Requirements:
  • Has a car.
  • Is physically able to walk/hike for several hours a day, hike moderately difficult trails, and handle large dogs.
  • Do training walks and pack hikes within 20-30 minutes of Watertown. Clients are in Arlington, Medford, Cambridge, Watertown, Waltham, Weston and Newton.
  • Teach in-home private training classes within 45 minutes of Watertown. Each training class includes a follow up email and email support. This is something that the team member can work up to, they do not need to feel ready to do this when hiring them. Team members can ask me for help with follow up emails as well.
  • Must be comfortable or open minded in using a variety of training tools, slip lead, prong collar, E-Collar, bark collar, etc.
  • Participate in one on one meetings with me once a month via zoom, company meetings via zoom once a quarter, and group continuing education meetings once a month at my house in West Roxbury. Team members are paid $23 an hour for each meeting.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities provided or suggested by Community Canine on a regular basis.
  • Team members need to have good communication skills with other team members and clients.
  • Get pet CPR/First Aid Certified.
Community K9 pays for the certificate and team members will be $23 an hour for participating in the course.
Optional:
  • We strongly prefer someone who can do boarding, one dog at a time either in the team member's home or in a client's home. All dogs are crate/pen trained and are matched to best suit the team member's household. We understand this is a difficult service to offer due to the dog being in your home so it is not required, but strongly preferred.
  • We don't require team members to do larger programs like Home School or a Board and Train, but you can if you want to.
  • We don't require team members to offer nail trims but we strongly prefer hiring someone with that skill set or who is willing to learn that skill set.
  • We have a huge amount of admin work and welcome any help with admin work ($23) an hour.
  • All team members are allowed to shadow other trainers' classes. If a trainer needs to shadow another trainer to meet a dog they will be handling in the future, they will be paid $23 an hour. Programs all team members are required to use:
  • Google Workspace (google docs, google albums, etc.)
  • Pet Pocketbook
  • Slack
  • Zoom Curriculum/Education:
    We are ideally looking for someone who has experience learning from the following trainers/programs:

  • Ivan Balabanov
  • Nepopo
  • Leerburg Benefits We currently have limited benefits because we are such a small business.
All team members get required MA employee benefits, unemployment, paid medical/family leave, workers compensation insurance, liability insurance. Team members also get a wholesale discount for E-Collar Technologies, access to a variety of free continuing education opportunities, and get a bonus at the end of the year (amount depends on how well the company did that year.)
