Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dog Trainer to join our team at the Animal Activity Center. This individual will be responsible for conducting both private training sessions and group classes while delivering exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with clients. The ideal candidate is confident in their training skills, communicates effectively with clients, and is passionate about helping dogs and their owners succeed.
Key Responsibilities Training and Client Work:
Conduct private training sessions tailored to individual client needs Lead group training classes (puppy, basic obedience, etc.) Evaluate dog behavior and develop customized training plans Educate clients on proper handling, training techniques, and follow-through Track client progress and adjust training plans as needed
Client Communication and Scheduling:
Communicate with clients in person, over the phone, and via email or text Schedule and manage training appointments Return client calls and respond to inquiries in a timely manner Provide clear follow-up instructions and homework after sessions
Administrative and Operational Duties:
Maintain accurate client records and training notes Assist with booking and managing your schedule Collaborate with front desk and management teams Support marketing efforts, including photos, videos, and client success stories Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of professional dog training experience Experience working with a variety of breeds, temperaments, and behavioral issues Strong understanding of dog behavior and training principles Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Comfortable leading both private sessions and group classes Preferred Qualifications (not required): Strong foundation in positive reinforcement training methods as a primary approach Experience using reward-based tools such as treats, clickers, and toys to reinforce desired behaviors Certifications such as AKC CGC Evaluator, CPDT-KA, or similar Experience in a daycare, boarding, or veterinary setting Key Traits Strong interpersonal and communication skills Professional, patient, and adaptable Passion for dog training and continued education Team-oriented with a positive attitude
