Job Description
Neuman K-9 Academy is hiring a full-time Kennel Assistant / Dog Handler to join our professional dog training and care team. This is not a casual "play with dogs all day" position. We are a structured, fast-paced training environment where dogs are handled, exercised, and cared for to a high standard — and our team is expected to meet that same level of performance. This is a hands-on role where consistency, accountability, and attention to detail are non-negotiable. What You'll Do Provide daily care for dogs, including feeding, watering, exercise, and administering medications as directed Clean and maintain kennels, crates, and play areas to a high standard Monitor dog health, behavior, and safety, reporting concerns promptly Safely handle dogs during walks, structured play, and enrichment Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trims Maintain accurate daily records of care and observations What to Expect in This Role On your feet for most of your shift Fast-paced, physically demanding work Outdoor work in all weather conditions (year-round) Handling dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels Some dogs may be strong, untrained, or behaviorally challenging Limited downtime — efficiency and time management are essential What We're Looking For Experience in animal care (kennel, veterinary clinic, shelter, or similar) preferred Knowledge of basic animal care and safe handling techniques Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and behavior types Dependable — shows up on time, stays on task, and follows through Communicates clearly and follows direction in a team environment Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required Must be 18+ years old Who Thrives Here Shows up prepared and ready to work Takes feedback and applies it without resistance Stays composed under pressure Pays attention to detail and does not cut corners Looking for long-term growth in the dog training or animal care field This Role Is Not a Fit If You Are Looking For A slow-paced or low-effort job Primarily sitting or low-activity work A short-term or casual position An environment with minimal structure or accountability Pay & Benefits $18.00 - $24.00/hour (based on experience)
