As the Lead Dog Trainer, you will oversee training programs, mentor junior trainers, and ensure that each pet receives personalized, positive reinforcement-based training tailored to their unique needs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead by example, foster a supportive environment, and make a meaningful difference in the pet community. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about animal behavior, possesses strong communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. Duties Develop and implement customized obedience and behavioral modification training programs for dogs of all breeds and temperaments using positive reinforcement strategies. Lead training sessions with clients and their pets in their home, demonstrating effective handling techniques and fostering positive behavior support strategies. Mentor and supervise junior trainers, providing guidance on training methods, animal handling, and customer service excellence. Conduct pet behavioral assessments to identify specific training needs and develop tailored action plans. This is going to home of client not at a facility. Educate pet owners on training techniques, pet care best practices, and behavioral management to promote ongoing success beyond the training sessions. Maintain detailed records of training progress, behavioral notes, and client communications to ensure consistency and accountability. Experience Proven experience in dog training with a strong understanding of animal behavior principles and positive reinforcement techniques. Veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable for understanding pet health considerations during training. Hands-on experience with veterinary or animal handling procedures including restraint, grooming, pet sitting, or kennel management. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds while providing exceptional customer service. Familiarity with pet behavioral modification methods for common issues such as obedience challenges or behavioral problems. Experience working with animals in various settings such as veterinary clinics, shelters, kennels, or pet training facilities. Ability to lift heavy objects safely (heavy lifting) when handling supplies or assisting with animal care equipment.
