Job Description

Pocket Full of Sunshine Miniature Golden Retrievers is growing, and we're excited to welcome a Part-Time Canine Care & Puppy Development Technician to our hands-on, heart-centered team. This role is perfect for someone who genuinely loves dogs and enjoys being actively involved in their daily care and early development. Many of our puppies go on to become therapy dogs, service dogs, emotional-support companions, and exceptional family pets—so the work you do truly matters. We are a small, ethical breeding program dedicated to positive-reinforcement handling, intentional socialization, and raising confident, emotionally healthy puppies in a clean, nurturing environment. Shifts are Monday-Saturday 8am - 1pm, Sunday 2-6pm What You'll Be Doing Providing daily care for puppies and adult dogs, including feeding, cleaning, sanitizing, and enrichment Keeping nursery and care areas clean, organized, and safe at all times Supporting early development through structured play, gentle handling, sensory exposure, and socialization Monitoring puppy health, behavior, and developmental progress and communicating observations to the team Following established routines and contributing to consistent, high-quality care across the program What We're Looking For Prior hands-on experience with dogs (kennels, rescues, shelters, vet clinics, grooming, training, fostering, or similar environments) Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and comfortably handle physical tasks such as standing, bending, and using stairs Basic understanding of canine behavior or puppy development (a plus, but not required) Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working morning or afternoon shifts Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset A compassionate, detail-oriented approach and commitment to humane, positive dog care Reliable transportation is required This is a very hands-on role involving dogs and puppies, whelping support, cleaning, and daily care. For safety and liability reasons, applicants must be at least 18 years old. $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
