Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Dog Trainer and become a vital part of transforming canine behavior and enhancing pet-owner relationships! Responsibilities Design and implement effective training programs tailored to individual dogs' needs, focusing on obedience, behavioral modification, and socialization. Use positive reinforcement techniques to teach commands such as sit, stay, come, heel, and leash manners. Handle dogs safely during training sessions, demonstrating proper animal restraint and handling skills to ensure safety for both pets and handlers. Assess each dog's temperament, health status, and training progress; collaborate with pet owners to set realistic goals. Maintain a clean and organized training environment, including kennel areas if applicable, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and in good condition. Provide guidance to pet owners on at-home training practices, pet grooming, pet sitting tips, and general animal care. Assist staff with animal handling or restraint when necessary during training or behavioral assessments. Qualifications Proven experience in dog training with a strong understanding of canine behavior principles. Background in veterinary experience, veterinary technician experience, or veterinary assistant roles is highly desirable. Demonstrated skill in animal handling and restraint techniques across various species including dogs and horses (equine experience preferred). Knowledge of pet care routines such as grooming, feeding, and general animal health maintenance. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for handling large or heavy animals safely. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners from diverse backgrounds. Prior kennel experience or animal care work that showcases responsibility and compassion for animals.
