Dog & Cat Shelter Kennel Attendant

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dog & Cat Shelter Kennel Attendant to conduct daily operations at our animal shelter. This role involves ensuring the well-being of animals, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for employees, visitors and adopters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the community. Responsibilities Engage in animal care routines such as feeding, cleaning, grooming, training, and basic medical treatments Handle animal handling and restraint to ensure safety for both animals and staff Assist with dog training Transport dogs & cats for veterinary visits and maintain accurate medical records Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including heavy lifting and proper handling techniques Maintain cleanliness and organization of shelter facilities Monitor supply inventories Qualifications Previous experience working in shelters, kennels or rescue organization Knowledge of dog handling, pet grooming Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods during shifts Compassionate attitude towards dogs & cats and all animals and their well-being This role is vital in ensuring the health, safety, and happiness of our shelter animals while fostering positive community relationships.
