A Dog Bather at BARK U plays an important role in keeping our dogs clean, comfortable, and happy. This job includes bathing and drying dogs, cleaning their ears, trimming nails, and helping them feel at ease during the process. Bathers also move dogs to and from their grooming stations, clean up after them, and keep the workspace neat and safe. You may greet clients during drop-off and pick-up with a welcoming attitude. This role requires patience, good communication, and a love for dogs of all breeds and personalities Must be able to handle various breeds and temperaments, and must be reliable when working shifts, including weekends.Key Responsibilities:
- Safely bathe dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments using the right shampoos and conditioners.
- Make sure dogs are rinsed thoroughly to remove all product.
- Brush out fur to get rid of loose hair and help prevent matting.
- Trim nails with a Dremel tool, clean ears, and apply facial scrub as needed.
- Use gentle, low-stress techniques to help dogs stay calm and comfortable.
- Keep an eye out for any skin issues or unusual conditions and report them.
- Follow cleaning procedures to keep the bathing area clean, safe, and sanitary.
- Help the grooming team as needed to keep appointments running smoothly. This may include staying later to finish baths and keep things on track.
- Safely move dogs between grooming, back of house, and appointment areas.
- Greet clients with a friendly attitude during pick-up and drop-off.
- Attend team meetings, reviews, and check-ins to share feedback and stay informed.
- Show up reliably, be trustworthy, and represent BARK U's Paws of Excellence.
- Be open to cross-training in other departments, like dog handling, as needed.
- Complete tasks, as assigned by leadership Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, walking, handling of large animals (over 50 Lbs)
- Lifting of (up to 30 pounds) dog supplies, box deliveries, and other items as needed
- Repetitive motions including but not limited to: bending, twisting, squatting, lunging, pushing/pulling.
- Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Qualifications & Skills
- 1+ years of experience in animal bathing.
- 1+ years of handling, veterinary, medical, or hospitality preferred.
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments confidently and safely.
- Team player with strong communication skills and a customer service-oriented approach.
- Ability to remain calm and react quickly in stressful situations.
- Reliable schedule availability, including one-weekend shift per week.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, forward-thinking initiative, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Must love dogs!
