Duties Private Training — Puppy, Adult Basics and Dog Directed Leash Reactivity Travel to client homes (within approximately 25 minutes) to deliver in-home private training sessions (may sometimes perform lessons at the facility or at a public park) Dog Day Training Independently manage and train up to four dogs simultaneously during structured day training shifts Assess new dogs for program suitability and evaluate compatible play matches Create and implement individualized basic manners training plans for each dog Facilitate and supervise safe play sessions between compatible dogs Conduct structured walks and manage enrichment activities throughout the day Document progress in detailed training logs; film short training session videos for client communication Conduct client drop-off and pick-up meetings; communicate training progress and at-home recommendations Open and secure facility; manage setup, cleaning, and end-of-day organization Group Class — Lead Instructor Lead curriculum delivery and demonstrations for group obedience classes Manage classroom safety and dynamics for mixed groups of dogs and handlers Direct and supervise assistant trainers during class Send detailed post-class recap emails to participants Co-teach with other instructors as scheduled, dividing responsibilities collaboratively Track and communicate attendance concerns or policy questions to operations Puppy Playschool Work collaboratively with teammates to manage 4-6 puppies in a structured environment Contribute to behavior assessment, play matching, and developmental observation Collaborate on daily client report cards and communications Maintain facility setup, cleaning, and safety protocols throughout shifts Conduct initial consultations to assess the dog, understand client goals, and establish realistic expectations Design and implement individualized training plans for all developmental stages focused primarily on foundational skills, and minor behavior modification work Communicate training plans, progress, and next steps clearly to clients — both verbally in session and in written session recaps Review client-submitted training videos and provide written feedback between sessions Send structured check-in emails to maintain engagement and support between visits Recognize when a case is showing behavior patterns that exceed basic training or behavior modification scope and make appropriate referrals to a Behavior Consultant or Veterinary Behaviorist Maintain thorough, accurate client records and session notes Flag client engagement concerns (missed sessions, protocol struggles, dissatisfaction) to leadership team Qualifications 2+ years experience in dog training with certification from a recognized organization (e.g., CPDT-KA or equivalent) with experience in modifying dog directed leash reactivity Extreme empathy for the human end of the leash and strength with human coaching Strong knowledge of applied behavior analysis and the application of it in dog training Proficiency across core positive reinforcement methods with diverse dog and handler pairs Experience managing multiple dogs in a daycare, shelter, or day training setting strongly preferred Knowledge of canine developmental stages and socialization windows Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks associated with animal handling and care Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and team members Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license required Proof of current personal auto insurance required As our trainers work one-on-one with clients in their homes, a comprehensive background check (including criminal history and driving record) is required for this position. This check will be conducted after a conditional offer of employment is made.
