They recruits and onboard dogfosters, finds placements for dogs awaiting admission to Pet Haven, and arranges relocations for dogs that need to move internally. The DDM also recruits and supports all dog foster mentors and fosters. - (This work is done with the intention of growing our life-saving impact by increasing dog intake and adoptions ) Responsibilities - to support growth in The DDM manages the following volunteers: Dog Foster Onboarding Volunteers that support them as needed. Dog Foster Mentors and Fosters Dog Respite Coordinator Cultivate and maintain a positive team environment in which ( the organization and staff, along with ) all volunteers are respected and valued. Connect with volunteers at all levels Explain and enforce PH policies Recruit and onboard fosters (and have a working knowledge of what strengths and limitations are) Recruit and support mentors Schedule quarterly meetings for Foster Onboarding, Foster Mentors, Training team, and Respite team. Schedule bi-annual Dog Division meetings Provide a Dog Division overview for board meetings. Attendance is optional. Find placement for dogs we tag, matchmake fosters, find placement for digs needing to move. Refer dogs and fosters to the Training Coordinator as needed Manage all documentation and data for fosters, mentors, and dogs. Keep all manuals up to date. Have mentors sign off on changes. Facilitates open communication between leadership, fosters, and others who interact with dog division (training, event manager, shelter partners). Support team building Foster Mentors Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Foster Mentors. Provide guidance, feedback, and coaching when needed. Confirm that regular communication and check-ins with fosters are taking place and that fosters are responding. Solicit and receive regular updates from Fosters Mentors regarding fosters and foster dogs within Pet Haven. Track and report to Operations Director, Executive Director, and Cat Division Manager. Work with Foster Mentors on any concerns about fosters or foster dogs. Communicate with the Operations Director and the Executive Director about any extraordinary challenges. Provide support and back-up to Foster Mentors as needed. Engage and retain dog fosters and non-foster volunteers who support the dog division. Fosters In partnership with Foster Mentors, connect with fosters and adopters who need additional support, when necessary, referring to the Training Coordinator. All communication to fosters should be cc'd to their Foster Mentor. Make sure new fosters are capable, equipped, and tag a dog Dogs Review all foster-needed posts on Facebook and provide feedback to intake coordinators as needed. Be available/on call for emergency decision-making, consultation, and follow-up. Attend dog adoption events occasionally to ensure that policies and standards are upheld. Anticipate challenges with individual dogs. Work with foster, foster mentor, and other coordinators as needed to find resources and help solve problems. Inform Operations Director and Executive Director as necessary. Qualifications Management and leadership skills and experience Computer skills, including email and internet access Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the public and volunteers Clear decision-making skills Dog experience - knowledge of canine behavior and health Experience in Rescue/Shelters as a staff or volunteer with Pet Haven or a similar organization Work effectively and calmly, thriving in a fast-paced, changing environment. Time Commitment Salary 3 office days per week Daily email, communication, and task follow-up
