Kennel Technician / Junior Trainer -Substitute Train My Dogs Austin - 3.0 Austin, TX Job Details Part-time $17 - $20 an hour 16 hours ago Benefits 401(k) Paid time off Qualifications CPR Certification Animal shelter experience First aid Pet grooming Animal welfare Full Job Description Overview Train My Dogs Austin is looking for a dog-savvy, reliable team member to join us as a part-time Kennel Technician and Junior Trainer. You'll work primarily in our daycare and boarding play groups, keeping dogs safe, socialized, and thriving while reinforcing their basic training throughout the day. This is a hybrid role built for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dog-centered environment and can step in confidently as a substitute when team members are unavailable. You'll have 1-2 stable shifts per week plus consistent opportunities to pick up additional shifts based on vacation and call-out coverage. Responsibilities Create, supervise, and manage safe and enriching play groups for daycare and boarding dogs Read dog body language continuously and adjust your approach to ensure cooperation and safety for every dog in your care Maintain and reinforce basic obedience and manners with dogs throughout each shift Monitor the health and well-being of dogs and communicate any concerns to leadership promptly Keep play spaces clean, organized, and safe throughout your shift Deep cleaning and sanitation. Step in as a substitute team member on short notice when coverage is needed Skills 1-2 years professional dog-handling experience (daycare, boarding, shelter, training, or grooming) Confident reading canine body language and managing group dynamics Flexible availability, including ability to accept substitute shifts with short notice Pet First Aid & CPR certified (or willing to complete within 30 days of hire) Must pass a background check prior to start Genuine passion for dogs and their safety and well-being
Preferred But Not Required:
Fear Free Certifications Familiarity with positive reinforcement and force-free methods Canine behavior or training certification in progress (Nordic, CPDT-KA, KPA, or similar) Comfort handling a wide range of breeds and temperaments Prior substitute or on-call work experience This is a part-time position offering 1-2 guaranteed shifts per week, with consistent opportunities for additional substitute shifts. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Details will be shared during the interview process.

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
