Pet Therapy Handler

We are a therapeutic wellness company delivering evidence-informed programming across leading health hospitals in the Houston area. We are seeking a passionate Pet Therapy Handler to bring the healing power of animal-assisted interaction to adult and adolescent inpatient populations. What you'll do Facilitate supervised pet therapy visits on inpatient units. Support group sessions designed to reduce anxiety, improve socialization, and promote emotional regulation in patients. Maintain a calm, trauma-informed presence and follow all hospital protocols and safety guidelines Coordinate visit scheduling and documentation. Requirements Pet and handler must be certified through a recognized therapy animal organization (e.g., Pet Partners, Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Therapy Dogs International) Up-to-date vaccination records, health certifications, and grooming standards for your animal Ability to pass a background check per hospital credentialing requirements Comfort working in inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health environments consistent scheduling preferred. Preferred qualifications Prior experience volunteering in healthcare, mental health, or community wellness settings Knowledge of trauma-informed or person-centered care principles Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for patient rapport Why work with us?
