Are you an athletic dog lover who loves being outdoors? Hiking Hounds is looking for reliable, energetic dog hikers to join our team and give our clients' dogs the exercise, adventure, and socialization they love. This is an active, outdoor position that involves transporting dogs to local trails and leading energetic group hikes and runs. Our hikers are responsible for creating a fun experience while keeping every dog in their care safe and under control. What You'll Do
  • Pick up and safely transport dogs to and from their homes and hiking locations
  • Lead energetic group hikes and runs for up to 1.5 hours
  • Manage multiple dogs safely and confidently in an outdoor environment
  • Keep dogs safe, happy, exercised, and under control throughout each outing
  • Monitor dog behavior and group dynamics
  • Communicate professionally with clients and the Hiking Hounds team
  • Provide updates and photos from hikes as needed
  • Help maintain the high level of care and reliability our clients expect What We're Looking For
  • A genuine love for dogs and the outdoors
  • Athletic and physically capable of hiking for extended periods
  • Comfortable handling multiple dogs at once
  • Dependable, responsible, and punctual
  • Confident around dogs of different breeds, sizes, and personalities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying Utah weather conditions
  • Able to work independently and make good decisions while responsible for dogs
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Previous dog handling, hiking, pet care, or related experience is a plus Schedule Approximately 15-30 hours per week, primarily during daytime hours. Some morning, weekend, and holiday availability may be needed. Compensation $17-$25/hour, depending on experience, work ethic, responsibilities, and performance. Benefits

Duties Take dogs on safe, enjoyable outdoor walks and hikes tailored to their size, breed, and energy level Observe and monitor dogs' behavior during walks, ensuring proper handling and safety at all times Use animal handling skills to manage dogs of various temperaments and sizes effectively Communicate clearly with pet owners about their dog's activity, behavior, and any concerns during or after walks Maintain a clean, safe environment for dogs before and after outings, including basic pet care tasks as needed Follow specific instructions related to dog training or behavioral cues provided by pet owners Report any health or behavioral issues observed during walks to the appropriate team members or pet owners Skills Proven experience with dog handling, training, or animal behavior management Veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable for understanding animal health needs Knowledge of animal restraint techniques and pet care best practices Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions with heavy lifting capabilities for equipment or supplies Excellent client communication skills to update pet owners confidently and professionally Experience with pet sitting, overnight in-home care, or kennel environments is a plus Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and enthusiasm for outdoor activity and animal welfare Embark on a rewarding journey where your love for animals meets your passion for outdoor adventure!
