This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with animals, applying your skills in dog handling, training techniques, and animal care to make a meaningful impact every day. A K9aholics Canine Trainer is entrusted with the comprehensive training and development of multiple dogs while thoughtfully educating their owners to foster obedience, safety, and lasting positive behavior. This role requires a discerning ability to assess canine temperament, design individualized training strategies, and deliver clear, confident guidance that supports each dog's long-term success within the home and community.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate canine temperament, behavior patterns, and individualized training needs. Design and implement tailored training programs that promote reliable obedience and behavioral stability. Teach and reinforce foundational obedience commands, including sit, stay, come, heel, and place Address and modify behavioral challenges such as leash pulling, reactivity, anxiety, jumping, and aggression Educate and coach owners on proper handling techniques, consistency, and effective reinforcement practices. Monitor progress closely and refine training approaches to ensure continued improvement. Maintain precise records of training sessions, feeding routines, and health-related observations Uphold a safe, structured, and sanitary training environment at all times. Communicate with clients in a professional, transparent, and supportive manner regarding progress, expectations, and follow-up care. Remain informed on current canine behavior science, modern training methodologies, and safety best practices. Exemplify and uphold all K9aholics core values in daily practice. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of canine behavior, body language, and learning theory. Ability to confidently manage dogs of varying sizes, temperaments, and energy levels. Excellent communication skills with a focus on client education and relationship building. Patience, consistency, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving ability. Physical capability to walk, stand, bend, and safely handle active dogs. Prior experience in animal handling or dog training is preferred. Professional certification (CPDT-KA, ABC, or equivalent) is considered an asset, though not required. Work Environment:
Training may occur within facilities, client homes, outdoor settings, or boarding programs Scheduling flexibility is required and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate client needs.
