Compensation may vary and can exceed the listed range for highly experienced candidates Pawsitive Canine Academy is a dog training, boarding, and day school, in North Spokane. We operate in a structured, professional environment focused on high standards, consistency, and long-term results for both our clients and their dogs. As we continue to grow, we are building a team of dedicated professionals who take pride in their work and are committed to developing their skills long-term. Position Overview We are hiring an experienced Dog Trainer who is confident working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. This is a structured, full-time position offering consistent hours, a professional environment, and a clear system—ideal for trainers who are looking for stability, growth, and a team-driven workplace (rather than commission-based or freelance work). Key Responsibilities Train dogs using PCA's structured training system Work with obedience and behavioral cases Safely manage and handle multiple dogs (up to 12 per day) Track progress and complete detailed training notes and client report cards Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment Operational & Yard Responsibilities In addition to training, this role includes contributing to overall facility operations. Depending on the daily number of training dogs, responsibilities may include: Supervising dogs in yard/group play settings Maintaining structure, safety, and calm behavior in group environments Assisting with kennel/technician tasks such as cleaning, dog transitions, and basic care Supporting the team to ensure consistent, high-level operations across the facility This role requires flexibility and a team-first mindset, as all staff contribute to maintaining our standards. What We're Looking For Proven hands-on dog training experience (not entry-level) Strong understanding of dog behavior, obedience, and training techniques Confidence working with a wide range of temperaments Experience using training tools (e-collars, prong collars, etc.) appropriately Ability to work independently while maintaining structure and safety Strong communication skills and professionalism Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented Team-oriented with a proactive, positive attitude Requirements Minimum 1-2 years of dog training experience Reliable transportation Ability to pass a background check and drug test Physically able to be active throughout the workday Schedule 8- 10 hour shifts (varies weekly) Weekend and holiday availability required Compensation & Benefits $20.00 - $23.00/hour based on experience Consistent, full-time hours (not commission-based) Employee discounts Performance-based bonuses Why Join Us This is not a freelance or commission-based role.
