Medical Building Caretaker Northwoods Humane Society - Hayward, WI Part-Time | $14.00-$16.00 per hour Fridays 7am to 3pm and Saturdays 3pm to 8pm . more hours may be available Job Overview The Northwoods Humane Society is seeking a dependable, hardworking Medical Building Caretaker to support the daily care of dogs, cats, and other animals while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary medical facility. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values structure and cleanliness, and is passionate about animal welfare. The position requires physical stamina, emotional resilience, and strong attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Animal Care & Medical Support Clean and disinfect dog and cat kennels (main building and isolation) according to protocol Feed animals and maintain accurate feeding schedules Administer medications as directed Complete dog health evaluation sheets Organize and assist with intake fecal testing Maintain accurate daily medical and care records Facility Care Perform daily cleaning, organizing, and general upkeep of the medical building Laundry and dishwashing Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workspace Animal Enrichment & Handling Bathe and groom animals as needed Provide enrichment, exercise, and socialization for dogs Safely handle animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical needs Communication & Team Support Maintain clear written communication in the staff logbook Complete timesheets accurately and on time Assist with additional duties as assigned Qualifications Reliable and punctual with excellent attendance Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Compassionate, patient, and professional under stress Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely handle dogs over 100 lbs Valid driver's license required Work Environment Physically active role (standing, bending, lifting, cleaning) Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, and animal dander Fast-paced, team-oriented shelter environment Why Work With Us?
