JOB OR POSITION SUMMARY
A High School Cosmetology and Barbering Teacher instructs students in hair cutting, styling, coloring, and shaving techniques, preparing them for state licensure and careers in the beauty industry. Responsibilities include developing curriculum, providing hands-on training, ensuring salon hygiene, and mentoring students in a vocational setting.
Qualifications Licensure:
Active state Cosmetology and/or Barbering license. Tech Certification for Cosmetology and Barbering (T71). Instructors License for Cosmetology and Barbering.
Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as a barber or cosmetologist.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; teaching experience in a vocational school is highly preferred.
Skills:
Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills, with the ability to instruct teenagers in a safe, engaging manner.
Key Responsibilities Instruction:
Deliver comprehensive, hands-on training in hair cutting, styling, coloring, chemical processes, shaving, and skincare.
Curriculum & Planning:
Create lesson plans, assess student progress, and prepare students for state board licensing exams.
Safety & Sanitation:
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional "salon-like" classroom environment.
Inventory & Budgeting:
Manage salon inventory, including tools, supplies, and equipment.
Mentorship:
Provide one-on-one guidance to students, fostering professional skills and career development. Typical Requirements Active state instructor's license (or ability to obtain one). Adherence to state CTE (Career Technical Education) Model Curriculum Standards. Staying current with industry trends, techniques, and safety standards.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
