Job Description

The Bartending Instructor is an experienced mixology professional responsible for teaching the Bartending and Barista Training Course (BTC). This class is designed to ensure that participants develop fundamental skills to operate successfully as bartenders and/or baristas in hotels, restaurants, bars, etc.. The coursework is centered upon current industry standards of bar safety and proper mixing techniques necessary to prepare around 100 cocktails. The barista training component is to ensure that participants develop fundamental skills to operate coffee machines to make different types of popular coffee drinks and serve them to customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Organize, supervise and teach during assigned class time.

Prepare the classroom (bar area) before the start of each class session.

Help maintain a good clean working environment; keeping the bar area and storage facilities in sanitary condition.

In collaboration with the Program Coordinators and other BTC instructors, develop course curriculum, including a course outline and lesson plans for each class session.

Check in students and keep accurate attendance records.

Create a positive and conductive learning environment that is aligned with CCSC s mission and objectives.

Instruct students on subject-related theory and practice.

Accurately and easily communicate standards and methods to students.

Evaluate student performance through written tests, practical examinations and classroom participation. Submit grades to program staff in a timely manner (within one week of the quiz, midterm or final). These scores will be revealed to the students.

Coordinate with program staff in support of the program operation.

Assist in locating internship/employment sites for students.

Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends and some holidays, in order to participate in meetings, workshops, training, and other events as required by CCSC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Years of experience managing/tending a cocktail lounge or bar.

Passionate in bartending and willing to pass knowledge and skills to helping job seekers to success. Demonstrate ability to engage and instruct adult learners (through a teaching demo).
Excellent communication skills:
Be patient and be prepared to speak slowly and clearly because many of our students are English Language Learners.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years experience managing a cocktail lounge, bar and/or drinking establishment.

Certification or other formal education in Mixology or Hospitality.

TIPS /ServSafe Certified.

Prior teaching experience of Bartending/Mixology courses.
