Under general supervision, this position is responsible for delivering comprehensive, hands-on training in cosmetology. This role involves providing engaging classroom and salon instruction, overseeing the program's alignment with industry standards, and contributing to curriculum development. Maintain accurate student records, support student success, and foster an inclusive, culturally competent learning environment.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Responsibilities Prepare and deliver lectures, laboratory, and clinical instruction that meets curriculum objectives. Oversee salon activities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive learning environment. Monitor student progress, attendance, and retention; submit grades promptly and accurately. Provide educational support during office hours or by appointment, adapting to diverse learning needs. Integrate industry-recognized credentials into the cosmetology program. Program and Curriculum Development Participate in ongoing program and curriculum development, ensuring relevancy to industry trends. Engage in continuous improvement activities and contribute to accreditation requirements. Assist in the integration of educational technology to enhance instructional methods. Student Advising and Recruitment Advise students on academic progress, program completion, and school policies. Participate in recruitment and retention activities in collaboration with program coordinators and Enrollment Management. Support the department's efforts to improve student success rates and program enrollment. Administrative and Operational Duties Maintain accurate records of student performance, supply needs, and equipment inventory. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and manage equipment for instructional purposes. Provide recommendations for budget planning and assist in resource management. Professional Development and Conduct Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with industry practices. Demonstrate a professional attitude and uphold ethical standards in all interactions. Actively participate in college events, committees, and community service initiatives. Communication and Collaboration Communicate regularly with the Dean and colleagues on program developments and student progress. Attend faculty meetings, contribute to department initiatives, and maintain collaborative relationships within the college. Notify the Dean of any absences, completing necessary documentation to ensure class coverage. Other Duties Perform related tasks and duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
: High school diploma or the equivalent. Associate Degree or higher in Cosmetology or a related field preferred Valid Florida cosmetologist and/or barbering license. Minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in a salon setting and/or cosmetology education. Demonstrated expertise in cosmetology, including hair styling, coloring, and skin care. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and educational technology. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Previous teaching experience in cosmetology. Strong background in curriculum development and program improvement preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and balance to demonstrate techniques as required. Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, and reach for extended periods. Excellent hand-eye coordination for skills demonstrations and instruction.
