Freeport, IL Cosmetology Instructor (Full-time, Tenure Track) Highland Community College, located in the scenic northwest corner of Illinois, is seeking a Cosmetology Instructor for a full-time, tenure-track position for the Fall 2026 semester This position will deliver high-quality instruction in cosmetology courses and support student development in both classroom and practical settings. Key Responsibilities Teach a variety of cosmetology courses offered by the college Provide classroom and hands-on instruction to students Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials Evaluate student performance and provide feedback Maintain a safe and effective learning environment Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program success Qualifications

Required:

Valid Illinois Cosmetology License Cosmetology Instructors License Ability and willingness to teach the full cosmetology curriculum

Preferred:

Prior teaching experience 2+ years of professional salon experience Professional experience or instructional background in Nail Technology strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong communication and instructional skills Ability to engage and motivate students Organization and time management skills Knowledge of current cosmetology practices and standards Work Environment / Schedule Work schedule: Up to 40 hours per week

Hours:
