Adjunct Instructor, Esthetics - Wilkes Campus 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars Wilkesboro, NC $28.27 an hour - Part-time Wilkes Community College 31 reviews $28.27 an hour - Part-time Posting Details Position Information Job Title Adjunct Instructor, Esthetics - Wilkes Campus Job Description An instructor's primary responsibility is to maintain excellence in instructing students in his/her curriculum subject with the express goal of attaining certain student learning outcomes. In addition to the primary responsibility, Instructors will be required to complete various classroom administrative duties as well as duties helpful to satisfy the goals and objectives of WCC (Wilkes Community College) including committee service and professional development. This is a part-time adjunct position housed at the Wilkes Campus located at Herring Hall. This position may require weekend and evening hours.
Full Time or Part Time Part Time Essential Duties Summary Responsibilities and Expectations:
Teach courses in the esthetics program including, giving facials; applying makeup; performing skin care; removing superfluous hair from the body of a person by use of creams, tweezers, or waxing; applying eyelashes to a person, including the application of eyelash extensions, brow or lash color; beautifying the face, neck, arms, or upper part of the human body by use of cosmetic preparations, antiseptics, tonics, lotions, or creams; surface manipulation in relation to skin care; or cleaning or stimulating the face, neck, ears, arms, hands, bust, torso, legs, or feet of a person by means of hands, devices, apparatus, or appliances along with the use of cosmetic preparations, antiseptics, tonics, lotions, or creams. Model student expectations include effective communication, dependability, critical thinking, positive customer service, and leadership. Assist the coordinator with operations of salon retail operations related to the instructional esthetics lab, including handling payment transactions, making deposits, and managing supplies and products. Enforce safety and NC Board of Cosmetic Arts regulations. Instruct students to follow state board evaluation plans. Maintain documentation, including student records. Support the college's commitment to enhance student learning by increasing student disposition to use critical thinking skillsOther Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate a scheduled theory class Safety and Infection control instruction Practical demonstration and instruction Manage student records, including practice area completion, grades/evaluations, and attendance Maintain a secure testing environment Conducting proper student evaluation plan procedures per state board standards Maintain supply and equipment inventory Be able to travel to local high schools/community events to conduct presentations about the program Facilitate theory, practice, and evaluations Evaluate learning progress of students Contribute to curriculum improvements Facilitate State Board test instruction and mock testing Make sure all procedures are completed safely and by evaluation plan Keep a clean working environment Attend professional development activities as scheduled by coordinator Current knowledge of NC Board of Cosmetic Arts rules and regulations Other duties as assigned by the Cosmetology Coordinator. In addition, instructors must exemplify the expectations set for students, which encompass effective communication, dependability, critical thinking, exemplary customer service, collaborative teamwork, and strong leadership skills. Required Qualifications Current North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts license. Current North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts Instructor license. Preferred Qualifications Classroom teaching experience preferred. 2 years of experience as a licensed cosmetology instructor, preferably within a community college. Physical Demands Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires walking, standing, sitting with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.Mental Application :
Utilizes memory for details and content of the discipline, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
