Westchester Barber Academy is an MWBE certified corporation that consists of: A Barber, Cosmetology and Nail school A Premium service barber shop Site contracts Our mission is to educate, license and employ community minded independent contractors & entrepreneurs. We believe in the proverb, " if you give a man a fish, you feed him for the day, if you teach him out to fish, you feed him for life"! Role Overview Westchester Barber Academy is seeking a dedicated Barber Instructor to lead and mentor students in our barbering program. The ideal candidate for the Barber Instructor role will combine hands-on technical expertise with effective teaching and communication skills to prepare students for successful careers in the industry. We are looking for a licensed Barber to teach our Full-time or Part-time barber operator course. Our Barber School has classes from: 9am to 3:30pm, Tuesday thru Saturday (full time), 4pm to 9pm from Tuesday thru Friday (part-time) Barber Instructor Responsibilities Deliver engaging instructional sessions on barbering techniques, tools, safety, sanitation, and industry best practices. Demonstrate proper techniques for haircutting, fades, beard shaping, straight razor work, and consultative client service. Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse learning styles and skill levels. Assess and monitor student progress through practical demonstrations, written assessments, and feedback. Maintain a positive, professional classroom environment that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and respect. Stay current with industry trends and integrate updated techniques and products into the curriculum. Collaborate with program coordinators to plan scheduling, exams, and practical assessments. Provide mentorship and career guidance to students, including resume development and interview preparation. Ensure compliance with licensing and credentialing standards

Barber Instructor Qualifications Licensing Requirement:
Must be licensed barber for a minimum of two years to be eligible for teaching licensure.
Punctuality:
Consistently on time and prepared for all instructional commitments.
Technical Proficiency:
Tech-savvy with the ability to utilize digital learning tools, student management systems, and multimedia instructional resources.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication; ability to clearly convey concepts to students.
Bilingual Advantage:
Bilingual abilities are a plus but not required.
Professional Experience:
Prior salon or barbershop experience preferred; demonstrated excellence in service quality and client relations.
Education:
Cosmetology/barbering related training; instructor-related coursework or certification is a plus. Working Conditions Full-time teaching position with a schedule aligned to the academy's academic calendar. Classroom and on-clinic floor instruction requiring hands-on demonstration. Commitment to upholding health and safety standards in a training environment. Salary & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($18.00 to $25.00 per hour) Professional development opportunities: New Instructors will be enrolled in our-in house teaching course and be required to take all 3 methods of teaching courses along with monthly professional development training.
