Teaching Cosmetology Full Job Description Minimum Requirements:
Current Oklahoma Cosmetology Master Educator License, dual licensure as both a Cosmetology and Barber Instructor preferred, a minimum of three years of verified industry experience. The schedule for this position is: Monday - Thursday, Evenings 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Duties & Responsibilities This instructor will lead students through the Milady Foundations curriculum with a focus on scientific concepts, theory understanding, and essential business skills.Teaching Responsibilities:
Teach the Milady Foundations curriculum, including theory, scientific principles, safety and sanitation, professionalism, and introductory business concepts. Counsel students in a professional manner, offering encouraging, constructive, and timely feedback. Adhere to curriculum expectations to ensure accreditation standards are met. Proactively identify and address issues with course content, materials, or classroom technology. Send welcome emails to students on your roster two days before the scheduled start of class. Respond to written assignments with personalized comments and support. Model the CARES philosophy and core values through courage, teamwork, perseverance, and vision. Provide clear instruction on scientific concepts such as anatomy, chemistry fundamentals, electricity, infection control, and product knowledge. Teach foundational business skills including communication, customer service, goal planning, retail basics, professionalism, and workplace readiness. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and foundational theory updates. Assist students with basic study skills, note taking, comprehension strategies, and academic success habits. Perform instructional assistance and tutoring as needed to support student understanding. Adhere to OSHA standards and maintain compliance in theory classrooms. Encourage students to stay positive, professional, and motivated as they enter the beauty industry. Maintain accurate documentation of grades and attendance and enter records in Canvas. Prepare students for future state board requirements by building strong theory comprehension and milestone competency. Keep classroom areas organized, sanitized, and stocked with learning materials. Order classroom supplies as needed and assist with inventory. Be familiar with Oklahoma State Board rules and other accrediting requirements that relate to foundational education. Support student retention by monitoring attendance, reviewing completion of learning activities, and contacting students as needed. Maintain a high performance environment that supports structure, accountability, and student success. Effort and Commitment Displays a high level of effort and commitment to all responsibilities. Operates effectively within the organizational structure and demonstrates responsible behavior. Shows eagerness to learn and accepts growing responsibilities. Foundations Instructors should have a natural talent for teaching, strong communication skills, and patience.
