PRIMARY PURPOSE
The role of the Cosmetology Teacher is to provide instructional activities for all students interested in Cosmetology.
QUALIFICATIONS
Trade and Industrial Education Grades (8-12) Vocational Trades and Industry with appropriate work approval High School graduate with five years full-time wage-earning experience in the occupation for which instruction is to be given OR Bachelor's Degree in any major field and three years full-time wage earning experience in the occupation for which instruction is being given Statement of Qualifications must be approved and on file with the Texas Education Agency Willingness to attend TEA teacher certification courses Hold a Texas State Cosmetology Instructors License Must have initiative and self-discipline necessary to work with staff, students and community Highly Qualified as per NCLB guidelines, if applicable to teaching assignment
ILLUSTRATION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide students with a course of study in hair styling, care for scalp and hair, facials and manicuring. Prepare students to work in a professional salon. To provide an opportunity for students to fully explore their interest in cosmetology through field trips, resource personnel, On Job Training, and career counseling. To consistently develop written lesson plans for the implementation of instructional programs for the specific assignment in accordance with district guidelines and course objectives. To demonstrate and maintain effective communication with students and promote a positive self-image in all students. Prepare students to take their State Board Exam. To provide an effective and meaningful learning experience in cosmetology through the use of varied materials, tools, equipment, and teaching techniques. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Cosmetology equipment such as combs, scissors, rollers, hairdryer, manicuring equipment hair styling supplies
