Assistant Costumer Casaday Costume Company South Bend, IN Job Details Part-time From $15 an hour 3 hours ago Qualifications Costume design Computer operation Customer communication Stitching English Sewing machine Attention to detail Organizational skills Theater Productivity software Time management Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant to support our costume rental and retail operations. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the production of theatre across the region. The ideal candidate is passionate about theatre, possesses strong sewing and/or craft skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. As an integral part of our team, you will help bring creative visions to life while gaining valuable experience across various facets of the costuming industry. Must have availability between the hours of 10 - 6 Monday through Friday.
General Duties:
Facilitate customers' use of the costume collection, including rentals, maintenance, cleaning, and organization Offer excellent customer service to new and returning customers Build, alter, and mend costumes and accessories as required
Specific Duties:
Work with customers to find what they are looking for and provide the best items available within the collection to meet their needs Help facilitate cleaning, laundering, mending, and put-away of costumes when returned Research shows, time periods, etc., as needed to meet customer expectations Perform tasks as delegated by the Costume Shop Manager to maintain efficient and productive shop operations
Required Skills:
Integrity and a commitment to and passion for the Casaday Costume Company's mission Knowledge of theatrical costuming processes and practices Knowledge of costuming and fashion history Strong construction skills including hand and machine sewing; patterning/cutting; fitting and alterations Craft skills such as dyeing, painting fabric, and distressing a plus Creativity, imagination, problem-solving, and design skills Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines Excellent communication skills Excellent time management skills Organizational skills and attention to detail Flexible and adaptable attitude A positive and professional presence Strong computer skills including efficiency in

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related area, i.e. Theatrical Costuming, Fashion History, or training in costuming and sewing or equivalent experience with recommendations is required Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 Provide a sworn statement that there have not been any convictions of a crime or a disorderly person's offense
