Job Description
Seeking Costume Shop Assistant Paper Moon Productions is an innovative and creative cirque entertainment company that provides dazzling aerial and specialty acts for any event or occasion. Our shop is primarily filled with costumes for aerialists, acrobats, circus artists, dancers, and showgirls. We are looking for an onsite costume shop assistant who can assist with maintenance, organization and preparation for our events. Responsibilities Assist with packing and unpacking for events Assist with inspecting, cleaning, mending and maintaining costumes, wigs and accessories Assist with cleaning & organizing the shop Assist with new creations; sourcing material, bedazzling, accessorizing, etc Hand stitching/mending/basic repair is a must Craft Skills (Plus Not Required) You live for DIY challenges and a hot glue gun is your best friend You love to bedazzle, or are willing to learn You often reference YouTube to learn a new technique Potential For More Work (Completely Optional) Event Assistant - work on location at our events; load in/out, set up green room, assist performers with costumes, etc Costume Creator - design, pattern and execute the creation of new costumes Work Style You tend to whistle while you work and if something is not right you have great communication skills to get to the bottom of the problem at hand and fix it asap You are open to learning "how we do things 'round here" but are also forward-thinking and ready to troubleshoot solutions and suggest improvements You still love to play dress up and would have fun with the task of; "the client's theme is french-cirque/blue/gold, let's see what we can put together from our inventory" You LOVE to label and organize, typically in chromatic order, and you always know where "that thing" is
