Crematory Operator Oakland, CA Job Details Full-time $27 - $29 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications OSHA (regulatory compliance area) Record keeping Environmental compliance High school diploma or GED Maintenance activity documentation Driver's License Cleaning Proper evidence handling Environmental regulatory compliance Facilities maintenance Entry level Full Job Description NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Crematory Operator to join our team at Chapel of the Chimes Oakland. It's our employee's sacred duty to honor the dignity of the deceased. Crematory Professionals at NorthStar are part of a compassionate community dedicated to upholding the highest standards of care and respect for the deceased and their families. The schedule is 40 hours per week, Friday, Monday, & Tuesday 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Responsibilities Operate cremation equipment safely and efficiently. Receive, verify, and document human remains and associated paperwork. Ensure proper identification of remains throughout the cremation process via the chain of custody. Maintain accurate records of cremations performed, including time, temperature, and identification. Handle cremated remains respectfully and prepare them for final disposition or return to families. Comply with environmental regulations, including permits from local air pollution control districts. Coordinate with licensed cemeteries for final disposition of unclaimed remains after 90 days. Follow all health and safety protocols, including fire inspections and occupancy certifications. Ensure facilities and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and in safe working order Manage crematory records including service and maintenance records Work with various departments to accomplish tasks efficiently and accurately Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism. Physical ability to lift and move remains and operate machinery. Knowledge of state laws and ethical standards related to cremation. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Qualifications Prior crematory, or professional experience preferred High school diploma or equivalent Required licensure to operate a crematory at the location Valid Government issued Driver's License, or ID Understanding of OSHA and EPA guidelines Compensation $27.00-$29.00/hr.
